HIDDEN DEPTHS
'In the end she decided it was safer to swim in her own depths,
than to drown in the world that others had created...'
She once said that we know more about what is happening in space than in our own oceans. Why do we as women so often choose to look outside and fail to understand the world that lies within?
On the outside of our bodies we wax, trim, flex, starve, sculpt, pluck, dye, inject and tuck to craft the ideal feminine exterior. What of our feminine interior? Do we understand what lies beneath our folds, our hidden depths and deep in our holes? How do we feel within and how do we begin to truly feel within? Do we know and comprehend these ‘sacred hearts’? How do we learn to understand and love these ‘sacred parts’?
Through our vaginas we can enter the inner world of the body and through birth we open our inner body to the outer world. This complex and deeply emotional experience is so seldom expressed or understood. When someone enters our bodies it connects us in ways that we cannot even begin to comprehend. It is our inner and outer selves merging in a divinely feminine sacred experience, one that has sadly been diminished and commercialized. One that we feel but have been told we should not express or appreciate.
For me SHE lived the majority of my life in my inner hidden world. Just like a vagina protected and disguised by its labia. As I bring my inner work into the outer world it is a form of sex and exposure. As I unfold myself, I consciously feel my vulnerability and the truly delicate nature of ‘the self’. As women we open ourselves to the world, we exposed at times our most delicate and beautiful parts. Our bodies symbolize our ability and need to expose and protect the internal self and her hidden depths.
But when SHE is revealed… SHE is beautiful, fascinating, layered, strong and delicate. SHE is miraculous. What beauty and mystery lives inside your hidden depths and who do you chose to share it with? Together we can bring our divinely feminine selves forth into the world. But first we must choose to gently expose her to ourselves. And marvel at the magnificent and truly fascinating depths that exist within us all…
